Today was again hot!! About 98 degrees.

Volunteer Bill got up early. He walks fast and accomplished 9.8 miles before 10 am.

Then it was time for Janis and me (Susan) to tag team further down the road. When it is this hot we walk a short way, 3/4 mile or so, and then retreat to a waiting air-conditioned car. The next person in the relay jumps out and walks their 3/4 mile and when done, the air conditioned car awaits them. Repeat for the rest of the afternoon.

This is Amish country. Amish people generally do not drive motorized vehicles, avoiding the pride and focus on material wealth common in society. For some Amish their mode of transportation is bicycles or horse and buggy. I took a number of photos to show the different types of rigs used in this area.

Today we accomplished 2 days worth of walking in one day. Many thanks to Bill and Janis! And kudos to Stephanie for transporting us, feeding us, providing a support car for cooling and cold drinks. Plus Bill and Stephanie provided me 4 nights of lodging. AND Janis drove me around in the night while I dealt with rental car issues. This is a great group of supporters!!

We followed the instructions as set forth in the timeline, but did two days in case of additional weather issues or other problems. Rather be a little ahead than a little behind.

We walked from Lake City to 525 E Co. Road 200 N. Arcola.
